A great sign of successful community development is the ability to recognize differences made up of the various different outlooks on life and bring them together with a result of a positive energy. Using numerous artistic genres, FUNK/shui does exactly that. With our artistic movement in the form of a show, we look to educate and stimulate the growing mind to think in a creative manner. Fusing together live music, live art and live poetry all while carrying an underlying theme of the core elements of hip-hop, we look to create energy unique to each individual mind incorporated into the collaboration.
FUNK/shui’s mission is to create an influential and abstract fusion of artistic mediums, in efforts to educate, expose, and inspire the mind. As others make attempts to think outside of the box, FUNK/shui will inspire individuals by taking the next step and thinking beyond the place outside of the box.
We will expose unseen collaborations and techniques at every turn. Audiences will travel to various worlds in one sitting. An artistic passport will take them through fresh poetics, exceptional reggae music, diverse artwork as well as being entertained by the turntables inspired by the flavors of hip-hop culture.
FUNK/shui serves as an educational experience as well. Targeting everywhere from colleges to community centers, the efforts of this show will broaden the traditional extracurricular format. This is an imaginative show that will bring out the uniqueness of race, gender, religion and as well as other communities represented in everyday life.
FUNK/shui will be the new movement that educates, exposes, inspires and entertain in a distinctive and diverse way.
